The more into photography I get, the more I am developing unique and personal relationships with each of my lenses. Each one obviously has a different use and function, but its more than just its application, it’s the way I feel when I use each lens.
My macro, for example, represents discovery. It taps into my curiosity and love of nature. I feel a sense of seeing and discovering something for the first time. Being a science and nature nut, it enables me to learn about new plants and bugs. I feel like I am revealing something so small, but so large and important, and it gives me the opportunity to be close and personal with what I am shooting. And it’s a lens I always use when I am alone, so it also represents sweet serenity.

My 200mm and 300mm helps me tap into nature in a different way. It gives me the change to be close and person with things that I can't get close too. I bought it specifically to capture birds, an animal I didn't have much of an interest in before my first camera. It has enabled me to learn and appreciate new aspects of the world around me, and lets me experience and see creatures that I may not have otherwise noticed.
And, one of my favorites, my 50mm. This lens is the lens I use to shoot people and animals… my son, my dog. I just love it… its small, unobtrusive and lets me stay close to my subject, which is usually my son, and interact. It is fast and allows me to really capture a moment. And the photos are just lovely, this lens has a fair amount of bokeh so the pictures really enable you to focus on a specific subject and often times a certain feature, like the eyes.
A few shots from yesterday of the one thing I love more than any lens, my sweet baby boy.
